Somewhere between the hemp seeds you can sprinkle on your acai bowl, and the psychoactive marijuana that’s still illegal in most states is CBD.
Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, comes from the same plant that makes a “special brownie” special, but only contains tiny amounts (like 0.03%) of THC – the stuff that gets you high.
In other words, “weed” or “pot” as we’ve known it in popular culture has a high amount of THC and some percentage of CBD. It’s from the cannabis plant. From that same plant family, you can also breed pure CBD, without the THC (or psychoactive) properties.
Basically, you get all the medicinal qualities, without the “stoner” headspace.
CBD hemp oil is legal in all 50 states and is commonly sold in a tincture or liquid form, thanks to its ability to fight chronic pain and act as a natural anti-inflammatory.
Humans are born with an endocannabinoid system, which is a network within our body that knows how to process cannabinoids, and naturally produces cannabinoids! Because this chemical is something that already occurs within us, we’re biologically programmed to be able to use CBD to help us reduce inflammation and pain effectively. We know that fibromyalgia, arthritis and migraines are associated with lower levels of endocannabinoids!
Inflammation is how the body naturally responds to infections, wounds, and any damage to tissue. We wouldn’t be able to heal without it! However, inflammation can also occur as a side effect of chronic disease, autoimmune disorders, and other everyday aches and pains. CBD is a master anti-inflammatory for children to the elderly without all of the harmful side-effects of OTC anti-inflammatories
I currently use CBD as an effective treatment for:
- Anxiety and Depression.
- Menstrual cramps, Muscular pain, Headache, Arthritis
- Seizures, Restless Leg Syndrome & Tremors
- Insomnia or Restless Sleep
- High Blood Pressure
- Fibromyalgia
